How SSI works, financial limits, and how it differs from SSDI.

SSI provides disability benefits based on financial need. Eligibility depends on disability plus income and resource limits. Some states add a small supplement.

Financial Limits

• Countable income must fall under SSI limits.
• Countable resources must be within caps.
• Some items don’t count (primary residence, certain vehicles).
